About Taylormade Care
A small, honest piece of software for UK early years professionals — built by one developer for one childminder, and now made for everything from solo childminders to nurseries managing rooms, staff rotas and ratios.
The story
Taylormade Care started as a side project. Danielle — a registered childminder running her own setting in the UK — was juggling paper diaries for daily notes, spreadsheets for invoices, a different app for EYFS observations, and email for parent updates. Nothing talked to anything else, and Ofsted-ready record-keeping ate her evenings.
Robert, a software developer in the family, offered to build her something that pulled all of it into one place. The first version was small: a daily diary, a way to log accidents, and a magic-link so parents could see how their child's day had gone. It worked, Danielle stopped losing paperwork, and one of her childminder friends asked if she could use it too.
That's pretty much where we are now: a handful of UK early years professionals quietly running their businesses on it, with new features added when they ask for them.
Who's behind it
Robert Taylor — solo developer, designs and writes every line of code, runs the server, answers the support email. Day job is in software, but childminding's been the family's world for years (Danielle is family), so the problems being solved here are real and personal.
Danielle Taylor — the original and ongoing reality check. Every feature gets tried in her setting first. If a button doesn't make sense while she's wiping a runny nose with one hand, it gets fixed.
What we believe
- Your time belongs with the children. Software should disappear into the background, not demand attention.
- Your data is yours. We don't sell it, share it with advertisers, or feed it to AI training. Period. See the privacy policy for the legal version.
- Small and honest beats slick and silent. When you email support@taylormade-care.co.uk, a real person reads it and replies.
- Built for UK regs. EYFS framework, Ofsted ratios, UK GDPR for children's data, HMRC for invoicing. Not a US product with the spelling changed.
What we're not
We're not venture-backed, not a 50-person team, not trying to "disrupt early years." Taylormade Care is a small, deliberate piece of software for early-years settings that would rather spend their time with the children than wrestling with admin — whether that's a solo childminder, an after-school club, or a nursery juggling rooms, staff rotas and EYFS ratios across a larger team.
